Another exciting year at Camp Horseshoe is right around the corner.
Once again Troop 78 has reserved the Dan Beard campsite at Camp Horseshoe for two weeks this coming summer.
At summer camp, Troop 78 Scouts learn many skills for rank advancement, earn merit badges (including those required for Eagle Scout and other rank requirements), display teamwork, Scout skills, and Scout spirit in the many games and contests at camp.
The basis for our Scouting program is camping, and this two-week period is always the highlight of our Scouting year.
The troop leadership would like to have 100% of the troop in camp this summer.
Scouts can stay for one or both weeks. We are encouraging 2nd year and up campers to stay for two weeks.
We want all scouts to be able to experience summer camp at Horseshoe.
There is a financial assistance program to help scouts attend summer camp.

The cost of adult meals at camp are charged to the troop.
We ask adults who are financially able, to donate toward their meal cost.
The cost to the troop per adult at meals is $50 per day per person or $300 per week.

Troop 78 has reserved the Dan Beard campsite at Camp Horseshoe for two weeks:
Week One starts on Sunday, June 25th and ends on Saturday July 1st, 2023
Week Two begins on Sunday, July 2nd and ends on Saturday July 8th, 2023
Drop off is 12:30PM Sunday.
Pick up is 1:30 PM Saturday.
The cost this year is $495.00 per week if paid in full by March 31st, ($575 per week after that). A $50 deposit per week is due by Friday February 24th
(On the deposit payment form found on this page, please indicate which week(s) you are registering for).
You will receive a free troop T-shirt if you pay in full by March 31st and turn in your completed health/medical form to the troop by May 19th.
The health/medical form is found at a button on this page. The form must be less than one calendar year old for the entire time you are at camp.
Download the most recent form from the Troop 78 website or from the Camp Horseshoe website.
Please make sure the completed health/medical form includes parts A, B1, B2 & C (part C is a pre-participation physical and requires a physician’s signature) with a front and back copy of your medical insurance card.
If your scout has special dietary needs or needs to take medication while at camp, a Special Dietary Form and Medication Form are also required and submitted along with the health/medical form by May 13th (forms are available on the Troop website and Camp Horseshoe website).
If you wish to use scout camping account funds to pay for summer camp, please contact Joe Cady at email@example.com. Joe can provide the current scout account balance and you can instruct him on the amount you would like to use for summer camp.
