RADNOR RACES

Racing for Open Space

To Benefit the Brandywine Conservancy

SATURDAY MAY 20 and SUNDAY MAY 21, 2023

Dear Scouts, Adults, Friends and Family of Troop 78,

Its Radnor Race time again!

Radnor Races are being held the weekend of Saturday May 20 & Sunday May 21 and Troop 78 needs YOUR  HELP !

Radnor Races is the “big one.”  Our troop is responsible for security, environmental management, parking, programs and more.  WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE WORKING AS MANY HOURS AS POSSIBLE.

But the benefits are as great as the tasks we must accomplish.  This event raises funds for the Brandywine Conservancy, which works to protect land in this area and supports the Brandywine Museum.  This is Troop 78’s major community-service project as well as a crucial source for the funding which allows us to run our successful Scouting program.  It is also a great way to augment Scout Accounts (you receive credit for hours worked by any people you bring out) to pay for summer camp or major trips.  AND, you get a chance to attend, FOR FREE, one of Steeple chasing’s premier events.  It really is a lot of fun!

While we expect every Scout to help, we especially need parents. And please do not hesitate to bring your children or any other family members and friends to help us out.   We particularly need help Saturday during “PRIME TIME”; between 11 AM and 3 PM.  This is when the bulk of the crowd arrives and we must make an extra effort to be prepared.  Any time you can give us during that period is extremely important.  This is our 33rd year helping out at the Races and some major changes have been made on the grounds; there is a completely new road!  We need to have enough folks there to fulfill our responsibilities. As always we need adults to help us with “Security.”   These jobs entail making sure patrons get to and stay where they are supposed to be, and have the benefit of being close to all the action.  The only requirements are that you be an adult and commit to work from 11am to 5:30 pm (8 positions start at 9:00am).  And please, don’t forget our clean-up efforts on Sunday morning.

Please fill out the enclosed reply form and return it to me as soon as you can.  Please return the form even if you cannot attend.  I know how busy your schedules are, but having to call to find out when you can come out slows things down tremendously. You will receive an assignment letter before the event.

Thanks in advance for your support.  WE NEED YOU!

                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                    Brian Rothberg

                                                                                    bricycle@verizon.net

Remember, we need help from all those you can bring out: scouts, parents, family and friends are all welcome!
